Relevant Experience:

Management:
Wide experience from start-ups to large corporate environments, leading employees from blue-collar workers to doctoral engineers. Strong project management, people management, vendor management and budgeting skills.

Network Storage:
EMC Symmetrix 3830, 3930, and 8000 series with Connectrix fiber switches and Celerra NFS servers. EMC Control Center, Timefinder, and SRDF. Network Appliance Data ONTAP running on NetApp F630s as well as NetApp F760s in fail over configuration. MTI Gladiator 3600s in dedicated and distributed environments, managed with Veritas. Sun A5000 and other disk pack solutions managed with Solstice and Veritas.

Networking:
Cisco, Ascend, and Livingston routers. Have designed and deployed high reliability data center networks with redundant Cisco 7500 routers, Cisco Catalyst 5500, 6500 and 2924 switches utilizing internal OSPF with external BGP4 routing, and spanning tree fail over links. Have designed and deployed internal corporate networks using Cisco PIX and Sonicwall firewalls with WaveLAN clients. Experienced with large scale network monitoring using SNMP with Micromuse Netcool, BMC Patrol and Mon.

Network Security:
Have served as primary authority responsible for security in a publicly traded company, as well as given technical assistance in government investigations. Experienced with complex sets of access control lists and routing policies in wide area, local, and storage networks. Experienced with secure systems configuration, monitoring, and auditing in large diverse environments. Cisco PIX and Firewall IOS, Sonicwall, Firewall-1 and Linux based firewall experience.

Systems Administration:
Operating systems experience with Solaris, Linux, BSD, HPUX, Windows NT/2000. Experienced with enterprise management of 500+ host environments, as well as tuning of high performance Sun E450, E3000, E4000 and E6000 series installations.Experience configuring VMware on Linux systems in development as well as large scale virtualization environments.

Led team of software developers and systems engineers developing interdiction solutions for p2p networks. Designed and deployed new Linux based 300+ host distributed infrastructure for p2p decoy distribution with automated command, control and monitoring. Designed and deployed network of filtered eDonkey servers. Managed roll out of new BitTorrent interdiction infrastructure. Implemented multiple p2p file trading clients on hosts utilizing VMware.

The company had projects under development in the areas of Internet DNS, network monitoring, artificial intelligence, and network management. Provided consulting for various clients in the fields of network engineering and network security.

Provided business and technical direction for the oldest independent ISP in New York City. Purchased bankrupt firm in April of 2001 and been steadily recovering the small ISP since. Negotiated debt down with major telco suppliers, installed new shared RAID, DSL and ATM, and 802.11b wireless data infrastructures to open new markets and better serve existing customer base. Worked closely with Verizon disaster recovery teams to restore customer service in only three days after the Sept 11th disaster, which had wiped out the DSL and dial-up lines.

Designed, documented and implemented a very high security redundant data network for a financial trading market network. Projects have included design of redundant network elements, data centers, redundant secure serial console networks, design of redundant wide area network with dedicated private connections and Internet VPNs. Reviewing, selection, and implementation of monitoring systems, and documentation of implementation specifications. Implemented standardized virtual developer platforms with VMware.

Projects included deploying new Windows 2000 domain with Exchange 2000 server, designing remote data center with replication for business continuance, reconciling software licenses, inventorying and documenting existing environment, implementing new security policies.

Managed team of engineers responsible for the continuing development of the Mail.com network infrastructure including wide area Internet connectivity, fault tolerant data center distribution networks, corporate fire walled WAN, network security, EMC storage area networks, and network file systems servers. Implemented Cisco 6500 switches with layer 3 switching to support QOS. Designed high capacity backup system utilizing EMC Time Finder and EDM. Mail.com, Inc. provided EMail services for some of the largest sites on the web, including C|Net, I Won and CNN.

Mail.com, Inc., Lead Systems Administrator, 8/1998 - 8/1999

Managed transition of production network to a new dedicated hosting facility at Telehouse NY. Maintained and grew production network with addition of new DS3 provider links and BGP4 peering sessions through NYIIX. Architected and managed the deployment of the largest EMC storage installation in NY during 1999, consisting of four Symmetrix 3930s, two Connectrix fiber switches and three Celerra file servers. These systems were utilized for storage throughout our infrastructure. Mail and web clients were using the Celerra servers. Solaris clients used smaller blocks of EMC fiber attached storage for high availability. We utilized a large amount of the storage for high performance Oracle servers on Sun E6000 servers with diverse connectivity through multiple IO boards and Connectrix switches with EMC Power-path for high availability. Mail.com, Inc. provided EMail services for some of the largest sites on the web, including C|Net, I Won and CNN.

Consulted to Globecomm, Inc. on their founding of iName.com (later re-named Mail.Com) on network infrastructure and development of their domain name properties. Developed BrokerAgent.com, the first domain name brokerage on the Internet, then sold to Globecomm to become BestDomains.com. Consulted for Canadian network and technology firms.
